I am free to be myself

Free to be myself

As I’m drawing this illustration, I can feel some sense of freedom, just free to be myself. I can feel how it would feel if I could just be unapologetically me. No need to put up a brave face, not being manipulated or having to fake a smile. I would just.. be.

I wanted to post this because, when the postcards arrived, I re-read the card just a bit after I had checked Instagram. I realized that in yesterday’s post I was blaming ME for being hurt and abused by others. I am blaming myself for being the one who is messing with my head, when I’m just struggling to find a good balance between what I was taught to believe and what is actually true. I was victim blaming myself.

Reclaiming my own body is also reclaiming my worth. I’m glad I realized it. Some of you have pointed it out as well which made sure I actually believed it to be true 💜 thank you so much for that 💜 I’m so glad to have you in my life and to have you as my closest friends and family 💜

Freedom will come eventually. Being released and being able to process everything will take time, but today, I’ll hold on, pull through and believe. Please join me to get through another day together 💜

I made this design for this month’s Mail Pals and Cute Loot Patrons (it goes in the loot boxes and gets sent as a postcard to the Mail Pals separately as well) I also made it in a sticker design that comes with the postcard as well. I love making these so much. Sending them out is the best part though. There’s a little letter on the back as well 💜 (I’m sending them out by the end of the month so there’s still some time to sign up if you want one of these)

Xoxo

As a rape survivor, I’m telling you..

As a rape survivor, I often feel alone in my pain, I feel neglected and let down. I mainly seek acknowledgement, love and safety. I don’t expect people to carry or take away my pain, because I know that that is impossible to ask for, and having gone through sexual abuse years on end, I wouldn’t wish this pain onto anyone.
