Hey my Loves 💜,
Alriiight so first of all: SO sorry for all the spam! I posted a ton today on here but wanted to make sure not to forget 💫anything💫
DID YOU KNOW
Endometriosis is the growth of (endometrial) cells similar to the ones found in the uterus, but located outside the uterus.
Symptoms of Endometriosis may include pelvic pain (mostly just before the menstruation and lessens after your period is over), abdominal pain, diarrhea, low back pain and irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding. It mostly affects women in their reproductive years and needs to be treated.
A study by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology reported that 40% of black women were misdiagnosed with PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, a sexually transmitted disease) when in reality they had Endometriosis.
This is so unfair and has touched me so deeply when I learned about this fact just recently. Everyone deserves the right diagnose and a chance to heal. Feel free to share this message, spread the word and shout it louder for the people in the back! I truly hope that we can start to treat people equally and with the same amount of respect and love. As human beings should! 💜
It’s so different from what I usually make but I enjoyed making this piece a lot as it contains a big chunk of the emotions I felt after knowing about this fact. I hope to share more of the ‘did you know’ illustrations in the future too 💜
I love you all so much! Thank you for being such a lovely and supportive family 💜
